After 3 weeks!

Original post date July 22nd 2010

I finally got my first letter from my husband! He's been at boot camp now for 3 weeks. Tonight I was suppose to get a call but we'll see if he still does seeing that he technically called me last week (but only for info) so we didn't get to really talk. I was sick at home yesterday so it was really nice to have gotten a letter. I can already hear a new tone in his words.

He said he's doing well. He's passing all he's test and inspections. He says it's alot like collage tons of classes. Boot camp would be easy if you just shut your mouth. He didn't realized how hard it was to get a 18-19 year old to just shut their mouth. Because of that they get "beat" they work out until they just can't. Looks like Billy's nick name is Glasses! It was really sweet cause one of the thing that he said was that he was sorry he didn't take the extra time every day to tell me how much he loved me and how beautiful I am. I mean don't get me wrong he did alot for the most part. He's just missing us a ton. I can't wait to see him on my birthday! Only 5 more weeks!

Anchors away

I got this necklace off of etsy. It's a cute sterling sliver anchor necklace. I plan on wearing it to graduation. It's my way to show my support for my sailor.

Challgen won and I'm the prize

So this last Sunday I got a call from Billy. He said he won a challenge and got to call me. I as so happy to hear from him. He said things are good and he passed his swim test. He said he got his dog tags and his religious medallion. He went to church for the first time on Sunday. He has to get his wisdome teeth and two molars pulled out today. Yeah that's not going to be pretty they have to put him under. He gets fitted for his dress uniforms this week. He starts working with guns here soon. He saids it's just like collage,  lots of classes.  He has to wake up at 3:30 am to get in line to shave. There are 85 guys in his group and if you don't shave it's a bad day. That was all I got be fore my phone went dead.

It's hard right now. Its been four weeks and it's really settleing in that I can't text him all day and I don't get to hear about this or that random throught he had. He's not here to help with Dax and wow that's hard. He's not here to see his progress with potty training and the plug is gone! But I know this is all good and being done for a reason and I hold my head high and be strong. It will be over soon. I will get to spend my birthday with him and I am so excited!  Until I hear more.

I have a phone call ( alittle late)

Yeah I had to ask twice. My husband had been trying to call me all morning. Well I didn't know he would be calling so I wasn't ready. But he needed a bunch of information. He called me like every 5 mins! It was really nice to talk with him. He was able to fit in that boot camp is hard but he's enjoying it. When they get in trouble they have to go to their room and work out until they walls start to sweat. GROSS! His swimming test is tomorrow. After I got all the stuff he needed we knew that this was most likely our last call. You could tell some one was near. He got all quite and was like hey, hey listen. I miss you so much. He started to get all teared up. He said that he misses us alot and he loved us very much. I told him I would get to see him soon and that I loved him too. So it was nice to have gotten to hear his voice but we didn't get to talk. This counted as my 3 week call now I have another 3 weeks before I hear from him. :(

Graduation (a little late)

Original post date Monday, July 12, 2010

This weekend I got some information on Billy's graduation. When I got his letter it looked funny. You could read the writing on the front and it was all in caps. I open it up and the first thing I see is his writing and it says, " Happy birthday! This is the best birthday present I can give you. I love and miss both you and Dax." I was like what the heck is he talking about it's not my birthday. So I read on this packet he sent and well he graduates on my birthday! So I'll be in Illinois for my birthday spending the day with my sailor in his dress uniform! So now is the planing for the hotels and the driving. I'm so excited to see him.

Also this weekend I sold Billy's car! Yeppers I did I was so excited to see it gone. I didn't get all I wanted for it cause it had a few more things wrong with it that I could tell. But I got a chunk of change.

I got his package

So when Billy arrived at boot camp, at some point he was to put everything he had in a box and send it home. Well I recived this box the other day. It was kinda sad looking at the out fit he wore the last day I saw him. I looked threw his pockets to look for his wallet of hopful thinking a note. But all I found was his calling card. Yes, that's what I was thinking. How is he going to call me at the end of the month. So I sent it back to him in the letter I sent.

The phone call

Orginal post date  Monday, June 21, 2010

Last week Thursday Billy got a phone call. They had moved his boot camp date up. So instead of leaving September 8th he leaves next Wednesday. Yep, so that gives me two weeks to move out and move in with the parents while celebrating my 5 year wedding anniversary and spend time with hubby before he leaves. So this last weekend we got most of everything out of the apartment. We still have a few things but that should all be out in two days. We had our last church service with the Hermitage branch and in two weeks me and Dax will be going to the Mount Juliet ward. Billy isn't working this week he is to stay home and pack. He takes his PT test today and I know he's going to do good.

Hard work

It was maybe 6 months ago when my husband came to me and said that he thought the Navy was something he wanted to do. We talked about it. I can tell you I wasn't going to have it. I didn't get married to be alone. It took a few months but after realizing what good it could do for our family it seemed like a great idea. So Billy went and talked to a recutor and found out he needed to lose some weight before he could join. He started at 225 pounds. He needed to be at 196. He's worked really hard for this, he studied every night for his ASVAB test and took practice ones too. Lets just say all that studying he did really paid off. He went to the MEPS center where he then took the ASVAB test and had to complete the physical exam. He did GREAT on the test he got a 76. That's really good. Your test scores will tell you what jobs you qualify for. So with everything that he did they told him he was 2% over the body fat limit. So he had to wait and try again when he lost a few more pounds. He was so upset.

Well 22 days later they sent him back. That was the first issue. He needed to wait 30 days. They sent him back to early. They almost didn't' do anything for him. If he missed one more day of work he would have lost his job. He's worked so hard for this and at this point hasn't eaten in two days. He had an appointment to meet with the Chief at head quarters in Nashville. He went down there, talked to the guy and the commanding officer and was weighed in at 192. Then he was back on his way to the MEPS center. At this point it was lunch time and he ate a foot and a half of subway. He was so happy. After a few more interviews and questions he got to pick his job. Meteorologist / geologist job was the first he was interested in. That job would have put him in boot camp in March and that would be cool and what not but the job he got crypto tech puts him at boot camp September 8th. He'll be gone for 9 weeks and then off to school in FL. So it's still going to be awhile before I move.

So Billy called me while I was in a meeting and I had to leave. I got to the MEPS center (after climbing alllllll those stairs) I had to sign in and be wanded down put my purse into an x-ray machine. As I walked around the corner looking for Billy I spotted him in the corner doing his finger prints. He told me to sit any where. When he came and sat down with me he had an ear to ear smile. It has been a long long day and alot of work has gone in to these 12 hours. When he sat down he told me that the guy doing the finger prints was like, "Is that your wife? " It made me feel good.

So we waited some more he told me some more stories and who people were. Then they were called in to the briefing room. Then we all went into the ceremony room. There were 6 other people in there with him getting sworn in. Billy was the only Navy guy. Every one else was Army. So Billy's oath was a bit different. It said something about protecting the president. I thought it was pretty cool. I snap a picture. Turn in his badge. Off we are to get his car.

It was a long day, but so worth it. He got in, weighed less than needed, got the job he wanted. Now we have to wait for boot camp.
